Position Overview
R.E.Y. Engineers is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support day-to-day accounting operations, with a primary focus on Accounts Payable and expense management. This role is ideal for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is eager to grow within an AEC environment and expand into broader accounting responsibilities over time.
The Accounting Assistant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting vendor and subcontractor relationships, and ensuring compliance with company policies and FAR Cost Principles. Key Responsibilities
Accounts Payable & Expense Management
  • Process accounts payable invoices in accordance with company procedures and financial principles.
  • Verify, code, and post vendor invoices and ensure timely payments.
  • Import and reconcile credit card statements; ensure receipts and compliance with company policies.
  • Assist with employee expense reimbursements.
  • Communicate with vendors and internal staff to resolve discrepancies.
Vendor & Subcontractor Support
  • Maintain vendor records, including W-9 forms.
  • Assist with subcontractor invoice processing and approvals.
  • Support annual 1099 preparation.
  • Track and maintain certificates of insurance for vendors and clients.
Project & Financial Support
  • Assist with initial project setup and updates in the accounting system.
  • Post daily cash receipts and in-house expenses.
  • Maintain organized vendor and project files.
  • Support project accounting data accuracy and coding.
Administrative & Team Support
  • Provide support with weekly union timecard processing.
  • Assist with ad hoc accounting projects as needed.
  • Provide backup administrative support, including answering and routing incoming calls.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics OR equivalent experience
  • 3–5 years of experience in accounting.
  • Familiarity with FAR Cost Principles preferred.
  • AEC or professional services experience a plus.
Skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Comfortable with 10-key and high-volume data entry.
  • Experience with Deltek Ajera is a plus.
